Why do kids love to play with venetian blinds?

I used to have venetian blinds and shades all over my windows. When my three toddlers started pulling on the blinds, I found out that they thought it was funny to make them go up and down and poke the blinds to make sounds.

Now, all my venetian blinds are in a garbage facility somewhere. The constant wear and tear from my obsessive children took its toll and broke pieces off the blinds.

Plus, when I was reading on childproofing tips in the home, venetian blinds’ strings are the number suspect of accidental strangling among little children. This is the sole reason why I took them off and threw them away.

Today, I have curtains. Maybe when my kids are older and can understand better not to touch my blinds will I hang new ones.

curtains are not allowed at a psych unit where i work since patients have used them to hang or strangle themselves. we use venetian blinds instead :)

I have always preferred curtains, sure they are harder to clean and more costly, but they make the house feel my cozy. I find blinds to be quite “cold”.
