Family Disaster Plan. Do you have this with you handy? Emergency situations can be dangerous if you and your family are not ready. In the event of major catastrophe, disasters and emergencies, it is better to have a plan ready to control our panic and to eliminate fears.
Included in the Emergency planning is the Family Disaster Supply Kit which includes:
Water
Food (preferably canned and ones that do not require freezing)
Clothing
Tools
First Aid Kit
Prescription Medication
Cash
Flashlights
blankets
emergency heating device
It is recommended that when you pack these items, there is enough for each member of the family and it will last for 3-4 days. Do not forget to make a list of important phone numbers. Panic and worry may block out our short-term memory when disaster strikes. Make sure there are plenty of batteries for paint booth lights or flashlights. Be alert with the news by readying a battery powered radio. Keep canned good and manual can opener together. Have spare water buckets, drums or containers. Keep extra water handy.
To view the whole checklist, Red Cross has a complete list available on their site. Stay safe, keep warm, have your car always filled with gas in case evacuation is imminent. Your possessions are replaceable. Your lives are irreplaceable!
God bless.
