A few weeks ago, I wrote about my wannabee investigative journalysing of my powdered milk in my pantry. I have searched it on the net, taken out my magnifying glass to check the origin of the suspect milk and even called the customer service department that was located at the box. I named the customer service representative in another post, and he was polite enough to answer, that there were no melamine found in the product I have on hand. I am still suspect of this fact, contrary to what he said because I did a recent search on the famous PR 10 of all of Netosphere (the one that starts with a G…) and there were still news and mention that milk in my kitchen may have been tainted with melamine.
So, down the trash bin it will go. How else can I get rid of it? I could not send it home in a Balikbayan box, I fear that I might put my family’s health at risk, I could not feed it to the neighborhood cats, that’s inhumane, and I can’t drink it, that’s suicide. Maybe I’ll try painting with it. My house desperately need a “milk” coat anyway.
As I rarely get snail mail these days, except for a bulk of annoying flyers and junk mail, it was a surprise to finally see mail from far off places–I live in Ohio, the mail was from Pennsylvania. I saw that it was from Nestle’. I was so excited and almost peed my pants that I actually got good coupons of off a call to a 1-800- hotline. As much as I wanted to wait, go to the bathroom first to do my throne duties, I didn’t. I tore the envelope open like there was no today. And there I saw the checklike coupon waiting for my itching shopping hands to drive to the store and cash it out, or get good deals out of it. Here’s a snapshot of the said coupon:
WHAT?!
I guess I can be thankful for the dollar that they sent me. Hey, it’s one dollar I didn’t have yesterday, yes, yes, yes, I’ll take that please. I’m sure it won’t pay for the surgery that my brother might go through for his stones to come out but it’s a dollar. But next time I go shopping I need to remember to write a note to myself :
